Business Requirement
The Romanian telco market is highly price-sensitive, and Romtelecom was challenged with keeping its existing customer base whilst boosting ARPU through more bundled products and packages presented on consolidated bills. This required a billing programme designed to:
- rationalise and migrate 41 legacy systems
- integrate 14 technologies
- reducing costs
- provide near real-time delivering of data
- improve revenue assurance
- centralise control
- increase its capability to bring new products to a highly competitive marketplace
Solution
Intec proposed a three-phase milestone approach over 13 months. The initial focus was on the collection of CDRs from the international interconnect switches, and then national interconnect switches to roll-out the new interconnection solution. Subsequent phases then tackled the remaining switch types underpinning the rollout of the new retail billing solution.
Value Creation
Intec Mediation enabled prompt savings in staff costs as a result of centralising and streamlining the mediation process team. Better network control was also achieved via improved visibility in the network. Other benefits identified were reduced time to market for new services, a future-proof system, a near real-time solution and a more efficient billing cycle.
