HanseNet is a regional carrier in Germany offering telecommunications services, including fixed line, data connections and internet access to over 50,000 customers.
Business Requirement
HanseNet wanted to expand the scope of its next generation services to include various broad-based offerings, but the existing legacy mediation technology couldn’t support the complexity and volume of transactions produced by a combination of voice, data and IP services. The new system had to distinguish between different kinds of traffic to enable HanseNet to charge distinct rates for each application. The legacy platform could only offer flat-rate pricing, undermining the opportunity to generation higher revenues.
Solution
Inter-mediatE offered HanseNet the flexibility to gather different types of network data for billing and revenue assurance purposes, plus the scalability to manage large volumes of traffic from IP, voice and data applications. The solution had a reputation for easy configurability and straightforward implementation, essential given the critical timeframe.
Value Creation
Since the installation HanseNet has achieved the flexibility to process information along with the scalability to handle growing traffic levels, all on a single mediation platform. Faster time to market for new services and network elements has been achieved, giving HanseNet the capability for rapid configurability without Intec’s intervention.
‘This level of flexibility gives us more independence and control. We can now self-configure our mediation platform which is crucial as we prepare for the roll-out of next generation products and services.’
Michael Heick, Billing Manager at HanseNet.
