China Netcom goes live with Intecs convergent mediation solution

August 23 2005

Intec, a leading BSS/OSS software vendor for fixed, mobile and next-generation networks, has successfully completed the first phase of implementation, through its partner Lenovo, of its multi-service mediation solution, Inter-mediatE, at Liaoning Netcom (a subsidiary of China Netcom).

The first phase of the project will generate over 40 million Call Detail Records (CDRs) per day, and is expected to grow over three times when a later phase is implemented.

Liaoning Network Communications Group Corporation ("China Netcom Group") is one of the largest telecommunications companies in China, well known both domestically and internationally. The adoption of a robust, convergent mediation solution is part of a BSS/OSS revamp plan to prepare for future growth. It is also driven by a compelling need to reduce operating cost and complexity by managing the mediation of data from many different network sources under a single convergent mediation system.

“As system integrators for Liaoning Netcom, Lenovo believes that Intec’s IntermediatE solution will provide robust and reliable carrier-grade performance, extensive flexibility and ease of use as a single converged data collection and mediation platform for one of the larger provincial telecommunications services providers in China,” said Zhang Jian, CTO, Lenovo Chinaweal System & Service Co., Ltd.

A senior management spokesperson of Liaoning Netcom stated "With its easy-to-use, business logic-based configuration, Inter-mediatE has demonstrated its capability to scale and support the needs of the expanding Chinese market and help a service provider to accurately deliver new and innovative communication services by leveraging a single converged mediation platform".

Intec Managing Director, Asia Pacific, John Rocca added: “Our carrier grade convergent mediation solution supports the business strategies of over 220 of the world’s leading carriers in fixed, wireless, IP and 3G including France Telecom, Vodafone, Orange and Hutchison’s ‘3’ Mobile Group, positioning our solution as number one globally. We are not only committed to delivering leading edge technology and robust performance but also to listening to our customers and providing solutions that simplify the way they do business.”
